The company was established in 1994 as a joint venture between Hindustan Unilever and Nepali promoters (Sibkrim Land & Industrial Co.). Its manufacturing facility at Basamadi, Hetauda, Makwanpur was set up in 1993, with the corporate office in Kamaladi, Kathmandu. About 80% of shares are held by Hindustan Unilever Limited, 5% by Sibkrim Land & Industrial Co., and the remaining 15% by public shareholders. The company began producing detergent powder in 1994, toilet soap in 1995, and Close-Up toothpaste in 1996. It manufactures and markets a range of home care, personal care, and hygiene brands.
