Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NDCL), widely known as Nepal Telecom (NTC), is the state-owned telecommunications service provider of Nepal. The entity traces its origins to 1972, when it was established as the Nepal Telecommunications Corporation, and it was incorporated as Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited on February 5, 2004 under the Companies Act, with all assets and liabilities of the former corporation transferred to the company. NTC held a monopoly on basic telephony until 2003 and on GSM mobile services until 2005, when competitors such as Ncell entered the market. The company provides fixed-line, mobile (GSM/CDMA), internet, and other telecommunications services nationwide. It is majority-owned by the Government of Nepal and is listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) under the symbol NTC in the Others sector.
