It was established in 1983/1984 as a lube blending plant under a trademark agreement with Gulf Oil, and it manufactures and distributes Gulf-branded lubricants as a licensee of Gulf Oil International. Its plant is located at Amlekhgunj, Bara. The company was privatized in the mid-1990s under the government's privatization policy and was among the first companies in Nepal to obtain ISO 9000 certification.
