Joshi Hydropower Development Company Limited (JOSHI) was incorporated on 19 April 2005 and converted to a public limited company on 6 February 2015. Its operating asset is the 3 MW Upper Puwa-I Small Hydropower Project, a run-of-river scheme using flow from the Puwa Khola (a tributary of the Mai River) in the former Puwa-Mahjuwa VDC of Ilam district, Koshi Province. The project has a design flow of 4.46 m³/s and design head of 125 m, and has been operational since 15 January 2015. JOSHI signed a PPA with Nepal Electricity Authority (originally for 985 kW, amended to 3 MW in August 2011) on a take-or-pay basis.
