Sayapatri Hydropower Informs NEPSE of Flood Disruption at 2.5 MW Daram Khola A Hydropower Project

Sayapatri Hydropower Limited has issued a notice to Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (Singha Durbar Plaza, Ramshahpath, Kathmandu) regarding the disruption of electricity generation and transmission caused by a flood. The letter, dated Asoj 12, 2083 BS, was signed by Company Secretary Ramesh Prasad Bhandari.

According to the notice, a flood on Friday, Asoj 9, 2083 BS (about September 25, 2026) hit the Daram Khola, the source river of the company's 2.5 MW Daram Khola A Hydropower Project in Tarakhola Rural Municipality, Baglung District. It damaged the poles and wires of the 33 kV transmission line running to the Nepal Electricity Authority's Harichaur substation. As a result, electricity generation and transmission have been shut down since 11:00 PM on Asoj 9, 2083 BS.

Since 11:00 AM on Asoj 10, 2083 BS, communication services in Tarakhola Rural Municipality, including the telecom towers, have also been down. The company therefore cannot currently contact its staff at the project site, and the full extent of the damage is not yet known.

Sayapatri Hydropower has committed to informing NEPSE again once contact is restored and the actual condition of the project and any further losses are confirmed. The company also noted that the 33 kV transmission line and other physical structures are currently damaged, and that it will share details of the insurance coverage for these assets.
