Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Resumes Operation of 9.98 MW Upper Mai Hydroelectric Project After Expansion Joint Repair
Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Ltd. has informed the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) that its 9.98 MW Upper Mai Hydroelectric Project is back in operation. Power generation restarted at 3:02 PM on Asoj 16, 2083, after repair of a leaking expansion joint. The plant had shut down suddenly on Bhadra 21, 2083.
Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Ltd. has written to the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) to confirm that its 9.98 MW Upper Mai Hydroelectric Project is generating electricity again. The letter is dated Asoj 19, 2083 (Ref. No. 2083/084, Dispatch No. 28).
What happened
- Heavy water leakage was found in the expansion joint of the Upper Mai Hydroelectric Project.
- To repair the joint, the tunnel had to be emptied completely.
- The plant stopped generating electricity suddenly at 6:10 AM on Bhadra 21, 2083. The company had already informed the market about this.
Current status
- The expansion joint has been repaired.
- The 9.98 MW plant resumed operation at 3:02 PM on Asoj 16, 2083.
- Electricity is being supplied again after the shutdown.
